Longridge July 2011Longridge Towers School is a small independent school set in beautiful safe surroundings.

Boarders make up 20% of the school community and are welcomed from all over the world.

The small friendly mixed boarding house has separate accommodation for boys and girls in rooms sleeping a maximum of three.

Our focus is the develop the "whole person" - academic, emotional, social, sporting and cultural.

There are a wide range of home cooked healthy food choices to suit all diets. This is served in the main school dining room and the boarding kitchen which is the meeting place to catch up with the day’s events after school and at supper time between 7.30pm and 8.30pm.

House Parents and the School Matron provide all pastoral care and are the first point of guidance on emotional, social and academic issues.

We currently have a wide range of International students from China, Germany, Spain and Hong Kong, as well as the UK which has given students, as well as their academic education, the opportunity to learn about many different cultures.

The boarding pupils are encouraged to make full use of all the school facilities during their free time and the sports hall and IT suite are particularly popular. At weekends there is a varied programme of activities and outings which are chosen by the students at the start of each term. Saturday usually involves a shopping trip to Berwick uponTweed to stock up on essentials.

Sunday outings this year have included visits to Lightwater Valley in North Yorkshire, go-karting, paintballing, indoor laser quest, cinema trips as well as Dynamic Earth in Edinburgh and Beamish Museum to name a few. During the summer term, Sundays often involve a trip to the beach, a barbecue and perhaps a game of rounders.

Students are encouraged to get involved with the local community and some of the senior students are involved with a local cub group whilst others are members of a local dance group.

Whilst Berwick upon Tweed is in a very rural area there are good transport links by train and road with both Newcastle and Edinburgh. The school has a minibus fleet which the boarding students and House Parents are able to make full use of the excellent museums and of course shopping facilities in both cities.
