Longridge Towers Appoints New Head and Deputy
Governors at Longridge Towers School recently announced the appointment of a new Headmaster and Deputy Headmaster.
Mr Tim Manning has been appointed Headmaster and Mr Richard Notman, Deputy Headmaster. Both Tim and Richard have considerable experience at the school and had been acting in these positions throughout the previous term. They took up their roles with immediate effect.

These appointments were made by the Governors after conducting extensive interviews and presentations. Tim and Richard will be assisted by other members of the school's Senior Management Team, Shelagh Phillips (Head of Junior School) and Stuart Bankier (Bursar) to ensure that Longridge Towers School remains the foremost provider of independent education for 4 to 18 year olds in The Scottish Borders and North Northumberland.

Commenting on the two new appointments, Mr. Ian McCreath, Chairman of the Board of Governors said: "We are delighted that both Mr. Manning and Mr. Notman have agreed to take on the permanent roles of Head and Deputy Head. We have every confidence in their individual and collective abilities and look forward to working with them and their Senior Management Team to take the school forward into the next decade."
Born in London, Tim Manning studied at the University College of North Wales in Bangor. Having completed his degree in Pure Mathematics, he stayed in Bangor to complete his PGCE in Maths and Science. He began his teaching career at King William's College on the Isle of Man in 1986 where he taught Maths and was also a Boarding House Master. A keen sportsman, during his time, he has captained his University and the Isle of Man rugby teams and also represented Eastern Counties at rugby. He also played cricket for the Isle of Man and was the Master in Charge of Cricket at King William's College. Now a keen golfer, he was captain of Goswick Golf Club in 2008. In 1993, he moved to Longridge Towers School as Head of Mathematics becoming Deputy Headmaster in 1995.
In his new role as Headmaster, Tim is keen to develop the monitoring and assessment of pupils as well as widening their educational experience by broadening the school's already extensive programme of extra-curricular activities. He also plans to extend its Scholarship Programme by adding a new All Rounder Award to help pupils develop their sporting and cultural skills. Longridge Towers School is attracting increasing numbers of boarding pupils from around the world. To build on this international reputation, Tim plans to visit Europe and China early in 2010.
Commenting earlier today Tim said: "I am delighted to accept the position of Headmaster of Longridge Towers School and relish the challenge that it will present. My aim is to work with all of the staff, the parents and pupils to further enhance the education and reputation of the School as the foremost provider of independent education in Northumberland and Scottish Borders."
Tim will be assisted by Richard Notman who, in addition to his teaching duties, will oversee the development of the school curriculum. Having graduated from Birmingham University with a First Class Honours Degree in BCom Accounting, he went onto to obtain a his PGCE in Mathematics from Manchester University. He is the holder of four academic prizes and has taught at a number of schools since qualifying in 1995. Prior to coming to Longridge as Assistant Headmaster in 2007, he was a Senior Teacher and Head of Maths at Alderley Edge School for Girls.
